# #PDFTribute: MASHe as PDF and RDF/RSS 1.0

I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t know the name Aaron Swartz until a couple of days ago. I was aware of something trickling through my networks but it wasn’t until I read [Dan Brickley’s Remembering Aaron Swartz](http://danbri.org/words/2013/01/13/815) that I started getting the bigger picture.

Reading [Brian Kelly’s A Tribute to Aaron Swartz: Lets Make #pdftribute Trend](http://ukwebfocus.wordpress.com/2013/01/13/a-tribute-to-aaron-swartz-lets-make-pdftribute-trend/) highlighted me to PDFTribute, the campaign to show support for Aaron’s work (including the [Guerilla Open Access Manifesto](http://archive.org/details/GuerillaOpenAccessManifesto "http://archive.org/stream/GuerillaOpenAccessManifesto/Goamjuly2008#page/n0/mode/1up")) by posting papers online I wanted to make my own contribution.

As I’m lacking a corpus of academic papers I thought I’d share all my blog posts. So here are [604 posts from MASHe (The MASHeBook)](https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7860124/jisccetismashe.wordpress.2013-01-16.xml). Because Aaron was one of the authors of [RSS 1.0 specification](http://web.resource.org/rss/1.0/spec) I’ve also published [MASHe as RDF/RSS 1.0](https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7860124/jisccetismashe.wordpress.2013-01-16.rdf)

## Notes on making these

- eBook – I opened my WordPress admin and Tool > Export and then used [http://www.blogbooker.com](http://www.blogbooker.com "http://www.blogbooker.com") to make the pdf.
- RDF/RSS 1.0 – this was harder. Wordpress by default has a RSS1.0 feed accessed by adding ?feed=rdf or /feed/rdf/ to you homepage (and posts, tags, categories …) e.g. [https://hawksey.info/blog/feed/rdf/](https://hawksey.info/blog/feed/rdf/ "https://hawksey.info/blog/feed/rdf/"). By default this is limited to your Setting > Reading posts to syndicate (usually 10). I tried various trocks to tweak this [including this one](http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/query_posts#Syndication_Feeds), but in the end I just had to crank the reading setting to 604 posts and [increase the script execution timeout limit](http://www.clickonf5.org/11921/solution-for-wordpress-php-error-maximum-execution-time-of-30-seconds-exceeded/).
